This piece is built on memory a photo of me as a kid and my Yaya, turned into a digital sketch and painting.
I didn’t want it to be clean or perfect. I wanted it to feel like picking up a pencil and just drawing straight onto the moment, like I was there again.
The painting is rough on purpose. The lines are real and imperfect, the colors are playful I went for bright, childlike tones, especially hot pink. It has this handmade, card-like energy, like something you'd give to your grandma just because.
That’s why the handwritten messages say “from your amazing grandchild” and “to grandma”, like a love note sent from some imaginary past version of myself.
It’s nostalgic, but not in a polished way it’s messy, honest, and soft. A drawing made with the same energy as a kid showing you a doodle and going “look what I made!”
And maybe that’s the whole point.
